The Bukit Batoshi Hawker Centre, which has more than 400 seats, will open next Wednesday (March 19), and nearby residents will have more than 22 cooked food stalls to try.
This new hawker center covers an area of approximately 1945 square meters and is located on the ground floor of Harmony Village @ Bukit Batok, a community care HDB project in West 9th Road, Bukit Batok.
Dr. Xu Lianshu, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Environment and Senior Minister of Transportation, posted on Facebook on Friday (14th): “Many residents are looking forward to the opening of the Bukit Batoshi Hawker Center. I am very happy to tell you that you don't have to wait too long.”
There are 120 hawker centers and markets in the local area. There are two new hawker centers opened this year, and the other is the Punggol Coast hawker center with 40 cooked food stalls and more than 680 seats.
Dr. Xu Baokun, the Ministry of Sustainability and Senior Minister of Administration of the Ministry of Human Resources, announced on March 4 that the government will allocate up to 1 billion yuan to renovate and rebuild some hawker centers in the next 20 or 30 years, and build five more hawker centers.

“We plan to build five more hawker centers to ensure residents who live in areas with fewer food choices can also buy affordable and delicious hawker food,” he said at the time.
