American skier Kai Owens, 17, shared her delight at returning to her birth country after being selected for the US moguls team for the Beijing Winter Olympics.
“Wahoooooo this kids [sic] going back to China,” she wrote in a post.
Owens had been abandoned in a town square by her birth parents and sent to an orphanage in Anhui province.
She was adopted by an American couple at around 16 months old and moved to Vail, Colorado.
“I learned some Mandarin,” Owens recently told People magazine. “It’s always been an important part of myself for me. And being able to go back [for the Olympics] would be just incredible.”
