Another 18 hotels have been designated as quarantine facilities for arrivals to Hong Kong, while Cathay Pacific has begun scheduling flights from currently banned countries after the government announced it would begin easing the city’s harsh pandemic-related entry restrictions next month.
Hong Kong authorities announced on Monday that flight bans on nine countries – Australia, Canada, France, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Britain and the United States – would be scrapped from April 1, while the mandatory quarantine period for arrivals would be halved to just one week starting on April 21.
The newly added quarantine hotels took the total number of designated facilities for incoming travellers to 43, though most – including the Best Western Hotel Causeway Bay, the Pentahotel Hong Kong Kowloon and the Regal Airport Hotel – were only accepting reservations starting in May or June.
Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific, meanwhile, has updated its flight schedule to include routes from Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia and the Philippines starting in April.
