Britain’s top judicial body has announced it will withdraw all of its serving judges from Hong Kong’s Court of Final Appeal, ending a long-standing arrangement that was seen as a strong endorsement of the city’s rule of law.⁠

The decision on Wednesday by the UK Supreme Court to recall the judges from Hong Kong’s top court, followed more than a year of debate over how the national security law imposed by Beijing in 2020 would affect the city’s legal system.⁠
