Cameras and monitoring devices will be installed in rooms at the Hong Kong government’s isolation facility at Penny’s Bay where candidates infected with Covid-19 or those deemed close contacts will sit for the university entrance examination.
The development came as health officials reported 3,254 cases on Tuesday, a slight increase over the 3,138 infections logged a day earlier, and 87 Covid-related deaths. The overall tally of infections stood at 1,177,814, with 8,349 deaths.
Elaborating on the arrangements on a radio programme on Tuesday, Ricardo Mak King-sang, director at the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority revealed that affected residents would begin moving into the facility by the middle of the month.
Two isolation units, one to be used as an exam room and the other for quarantine, will be arranged for each candidate, according to Mak. Each invigilator will monitor about 10 candidates through surveillance cameras, while another will be on patrol to provide immediate help.
