Google announced new plans on Wednesday to integrate more advanced artificial-intelligence tech into its search engine, with its assistive AI chatbot, Bard. The news comes in the wake of the success of Microsoft’s new AI-powered upgraded search engine, Bing, unveiled three months ago.
Bing’s chatbot utilizes similar technology behind ChatGPT, and both services have seen massive troves of users signing up to explore the exciting new AI technology. The technology is not always accurate, as the generative AI technology is still evolving with every use.
Bard is also powered by generative AI, and has so far only been available to people accepted from a waitlist, but soon Bard will become available to people in more than 180 countries. Japanese and Korean will kick off Bard’s multilingual abilities before adding about 40 more languages. The AI results will also be clearly tagged as an experimental form of technology.
Google’s Gmail email service will also be getting an upgrade, with new AI “Help Me Write” option, and a “Magic Editor” function to adjust pictures.
