Hong Kong authorities have confirmed that Hollywood star Nicole Kidman was granted exemption from quarantine following her arrival from Australia last week to film a new drama series in the city.
Under mounting public pressure to explain the preferential treatment for the 54-year-old movie star after she was seen shopping at a boutique in Central two days after her arrival, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau released a statement on Thursday afternoon saying Kidman had been “granted permission to travel to Hong Kong with a quarantine exemption”.
Kidman flew into Hong Kong on a private jet on August 12 to start filming the Amazon drama series Expats and was spotted leaving an upmarket residence on Peak Road shortly afterwards.
