Hong Kong’s 51-day streak without a local Covid-19 infection is over, after an airport worker was confirmed as being positive for the coronavirus.
The man had been fully vaccinated and taken regular tests, according to a source.
The infection would be the first case in the city since an airport lounge employee was confirmed to have the coronavirus on August 17.
It is uncertain if the local case could affect the continuing discussions on reopening the border with mainland China.
