Lightermen bronzed from years spent outdoors. A hawker waiting to make a sale by the harbour with a clutch of fowl. These were the chosen subjects of German-Australian photographer Hedda Morrison.

Her photos are part of the “Recovery; Resilience; Resurgence” exhibition that is being held at the Asia Society in Admiralty from December 14 to March 6.

According to Australian photographer and writer Brian Strokes, the images span a period of about 30 years that saw great transformation in Hong Kong, from the post-war recovery in 1946-47, through the resilience of the 1950s, to the resurgence of the 1960s and 1970s.
