The four-day manhunt for Francisco Oropeza, the man accused of shooting and killing five neighbors, including a nine year child, has concluded.

Police found Oropeza on Tuesday, May 2, only miles from his home near Cleveland, Texas, after searching for him for four days with FBI involvement.

Oropeza allegedly massacred five of his neighbors after one of them asked him to stop firing his assault rifle into the air so their baby could sleep on Friday night.

Oropeza was found hiding in a home beneath a pile of laundry, officials said. Police were acting on a tip from an anonymous person, who is now eligible for the $80,000 reward offered for information leading to the fugitive’s arrest.

Oropeza will be held on $5 million bail and charged with five counts of murder. The victims have been identified as Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25; Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21; Julisa Molina Rivera, 31; Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18; and Daniel Enrique Laso, 8.

Officials say several arrests have been made, including the wife of the suspect.

“Anybody that helped this maniac definitely has some issues as far as I am concerned,” San Jacinto County Chief Deputy Tim Kean said Wednesday.
