The railway department is doing its best to remove ice from high-speed trains to provide a strong guarantee for Spring Festival passengers to return home safely.

According to statistics, from February 1st to 4th, a total of 957 people were invested in the Beijing EMU section to clear snow and ice for the EMUs, and a total of 83 high-speed trains were cleared of snow and ice, creating good conditions for Spring Festival passengers to go home. .

Located in Daxing District, Beijing, the Beijing South Railway Station of the Beijing EMU section of the China Railway Beijing Bureau is responsible for the maintenance and repair of some high-speed EMU trains on the Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway and the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway.

In an interview with reporters, Feng Zhe, the duty director of the Beijing South EMU train station in the Beijing EMU section, said that due to the impact of rain, snow and freezing weather, ice and snow have often condensed on the bottoms of high-speed rail EMU trains that have been put into storage for maintenance in recent days. “The reason is that in snowy weather, high-speed trains running on the Wanli Railway Line generate strong air vortices due to their fast running speed, which will bring the snow on both sides of the line into the bottom of the car, easily causing accumulation of snow on the running parts. Snow adheres. In addition, as the temperature drops, it gradually condenses into ice and wraps around components such as brake calipers, couplings, and air springs.”

According to Feng Zhe, when the train returns to the EMU for maintenance at night, it must first carry out ice melting and snow removal operations before it can carry out first-level maintenance operations in accordance with the existing operating procedures. In addition, if the ice and snow on the train are not removed in time, the EMU Operation Fault Dynamic Image Detection System (TEDS) will not be able to clearly see the mechanical components under the train, thus affecting transportation safety. “Therefore, after the high-speed rail EMU trains are put into storage, the ice must be removed. This way, when the trains go online again, the TEDS system can clearly see the status of each running component under the trains and ensure the safety of train operations.”

At present, with the advancement of technology and equipment, the Beijing EMU section is equipped with mechanized snow and ice removal equipment, such as snow and ice removal trucks, which can improve the efficiency of snow and ice removal. However, if a large number of EMUs are covered with ice and snow, and some special parts are covered with ice and snow, manual ice and snow removal will still be required. Feng Zhe told reporters that the ice-breaking operation of an EMU takes half an hour if it is fast. If it catches a train with thick ice, it will take two hours.

Like the Beijing South Railway Station, other railway stations within the jurisdiction of the Beijing Railway Station have carried out icing operations to varying degrees in the past few days. In order to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the ice removal operations, the Beijing Railway Station has adopted the following measures:

Actively organize the operation of emergency replacement EMUs, timely arrange the departure of maintenance EMUs, ensure the normal order of EMUs the next day, and ensure that passengers can go home smoothly to the greatest extent.
