The United States will reopen in “early November” to foreign travellers who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, the White House said.
Passengers from the Schengen countries in Europe, as well as Britain, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran and Brazil will be allowed into the US.
The decision rolls back strict pandemic-related travel restrictions that barred non-US citizens who had been in “red list” countries within the previous 14 days.
The White House said the US CDC will decide which vaccines qualify and whether those not approved by US regulators will be acceptable.
Foreign nationals will need to present proof of vaccination before travel and will not be required to quarantine upon arrival.
