Track cyclist Sarah Lee Wai-sze steered Hong Kong to its first gold medal at the 2021 National Games of China after victory in the women’s sprint on Monday.⁠

Racing in her fourth National Games, it was the second time that the star rider clinched a gold medal after defeating long-time rival Zhong Tianshi, of Shanghai, 2-0 in the best-of-three finale.⁠

The last time Lee won gold at the National Games was in 2013 when she came first in the keirin in Shenyang.⁠
