Venezuela had the highest inflation rate for food of Latin America, according to data from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). As of September 2022, food inflation in the country was running at 110.4 percent.
The FAO reported that the average annual food inflation in the region was 43.9 percent in September 2022, while globally it did not exceed 23 percent.
Lower-income households tend to be the most vulnerable to food inflation “due to their greater budget allocation towards spending on food.” #food #LatinAmerica #inflation #cgtnamerica
