With this week’s seditious conspiracy convictions of Enrique Tarrio and three other members of the extremist Proud Boys, the work of obtaining justice for crimes committed during the U.S. Capitol insurrection continues.
More than 500 defendants are still awaiting trial or sentencing for crimes related to the riot on Jan. 6, 2021, while at least 450 have been sentenced.
Tarrio and crew will likely be going to prison for more than a decade over their roles in the attack on the U.S. Capitol.
U.S. Attorney Merrick Garland said to the press that “evidence presented at trial detailed the extent of the violence at the Capitol on January 6 and the central role these defendants played setting into motion the unlawful events of that day. ” Garland added, “Our work will continue”.
