Apple Inc. has been prohibited from selling its iPhone 16 smartphones in Indonesia for failing to comply with local regulations requiring at least 40% of components to be manufactured domestically.
The industry ministry’s spokesperson, Febri Hendri Antoni Arief, stated that the iPhone 16 does not meet this requirement and thus cannot be marketed in the country.
While the phones can still be imported for personal use after paying taxes, Apple Indonesia has not fulfilled its investment commitments needed for local content certification.
