Bluesky, a fast-growing social media service, has updated its impersonation policy to be more aggressive, removing accounts that impersonate others or squat on handles. The company has also quadrupled its moderation team to act on reports more quickly, but still faces a backlog of reports due to a surge in new users.
Bluesky lacks a verified user badge like Twitter’s, and instead relies on verified domains in user handles to signal trustworthiness. The company is exploring additional options to enhance account verification and is working with organizations and high-profile individuals to set up verified domain handles.
