Sir Chris Hoy, a six-time Olympic gold medalist and decorated track cyclist, has invested in a UK startup called Skarper, which has developed a click-on electric bike conversion kit that can turn any bike into an e-bike in minutes. The kit, which costs £1,500 ($1,900), is designed to be easy to use and doesn’t compromise the original design and quality of the bike.
Skarper’s founders claim that their product is a game-changer for the e-bike industry, offering a solution for those who already have a bike but want to add electric assistance. The company has raised £12.8 million ($16.3 million) since its inception in 2020 and is currently shipping its product to UK customers, with plans to expand to mainland Europe and the US in the future.
