The Course Assisted Activities Strategy Partner Program adds two new sports programs, canoeing and hockey, giving more students from different middle schools the opportunity to gather together to participate in extracurricular activities that the school does not run.

The news was announced by Huang Weizhong, the Ministry of Education and senior deputy governor of the Ministry of Finance, on Thursday (March 6) when debating the Ministry of Education's expenditure budget on the Congressional Appropriations Committee.

He pointed out that course auxiliary activities are still an important platform for students to discover their interests and talents and cultivate good qualities. Currently, nearly 40% of students participate in physical education course assisted activities. To better meet students' interests, most primary schools do not conduct course-assisted activity selection tests.

Although the school is committed to providing a diverse curriculum-assisted activity to cater to the students’ different interests, some activities may not be available due to insufficient participants.

Therefore, since 2019, the Ministry of Education has cooperated with the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth to launch the “Strategic Partnership CCA, SP-CCA for short” to provide middle school students with unified extracurricular activities so that they can participate in curriculum assisted activities that the school has not offered.

The plan is to launch track and field and water polo events in 2019 and 2022, and will add canoeing and hockey events this year and next year. Currently, a total of 105 students participated in the track and field program, 77 people were given water polo and 35 people were given canoe. The participating schools are 46 track and field schools, 50 water polo, and 22 canoe.

Huang Weizhong also emphasized that the Ministry of Education will continue to work closely with its partners to provide all students with opportunities to develop their advantages and talents and meet their needs.
