In order to continue to stay in Singapore, the Vietnamese woman paid 30,000 yuan to ask the “intermediary” to arrange a fake marriage, and she had to give her “husband” 1,000 yuan a month.

She pleaded guilty Wednesday (February 19) and was sentenced to six months and nine weeks in jail.

The Xinming Daily once reported that a man named Jason, whose real name is Huang Zhihong, “connected the red line” for many Vietnamese women and Lion City men, launched a “fake marriage package” to make a fortune.

Huang Zhihong is still on the run, but many fake couples have been arrested, including Chen Yufangtao (32 years old) in this case. She faced four charges that violated the immigration law and admitted two of them on Wednesday, with the remaining items being taken into consideration when the judge issued a judgment.

The investigation revealed that the defendant's performing artist work permit expired on January 17, 2023. She was worried that she could not continue to work locally, so she asked her friend Mei Ling for help.

Mei Ling introduced Huang Zhihong to the defendant. Huang Zhihong said that he could help her find a fake marriage for a man in Lion City to extend her time working locally.

Huang Zhihong arranged for the defendant to meet Zhang Weijie (28 years old) and said that after marriage, Zhang Weijie would help her apply for a long-term pass, allowing her to stay in Singapore for at least three years. The defendant was given a payment of 30,000 yuan to Huang Zhihong and 1,000 yuan to Zhang Weijie every month. The defendant agreed to the arrangement.

The defendant and Zhang Weijie took the oath and registered their marriage at the Hard Rock Hotel in Sentosa on April 6, 2023. Mei Ling also reminded the two to send text messages frequently, so that the relevant authorities would believe that they were really married when they investigated.
