The former CEO of the local aquaculture group was accused of accepting bribes of RMB 450,000 and using bribes to pay the apartment unit's first payment. He was charged in court on Thursday morning (February 20).

The defendant is 51-year-old Huang Weijie. At the time of the incident, he was the CEO (CEO) and a board member of the local aquaculture businessman Apollo Aquaculture Group (AAG).

He faced nine charges including the corruption prevention ordinance, the company ordinance, and the corruption, drug trafficking and serious crimes (forfeiture of interest) ordinance.

According to a joint statement issued by the Corruption Investigation Bureau (CPIB) and the Singapore Police Force, the defendant claimed that on August 24, 2018, he accepted bribes from Xu Junxiong (51 years old), the then director of Alric Projects Pte Ltd and Alric MEP Engineering Pte Ltd. 450,000 yuan is to induce disgust towards Xu Junxiong's company when trading with AAG.

The statement said that the defendant used the bribe to pay a total of 471,000 yuan in the apartment units in the Wak Hassan Drive on the 27th of the same month.

In addition, the defendant was also accused of not confessing to the board of directors between October 2018 and June 2020 that he had conflicts of interest with some of the company's transactions. The defendant was charged in court Thursday morning. According to information from the Criminal Case Prosecution and Management System (ICMS), the defendant pleaded not guilty and the case was held until March 13 and is currently on bail for 450,000 yuan.

If the crime is convicted and violates the law on the prevention of corruption, the person may be fined not more than RMB 100,000, or imprisoned for no more than five years, or both. Those who violate the company's laws may be fined not more than RMB 5,000 or jail for no more than 12 months.

Those who violate the drug trafficking and serious crimes (forfeiture of interests) may be fined not more than RMB 500,000, or jail for no more than 10 years, or do both.
