Honeywell, an American aviation system and engineering technology service company, has partnered with the Singapore Economic Development Bureau (EDB) to establish a Center of Excellence for Sustainable Buildings in Singapore.

Honeywell held the center's establishment ceremony on Friday (February 21) and issued a statement announcing the news. It noted that the Centers of Excellence will pilot and deploy building technologies using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning-driven solutions to give customers an understanding of the life cycle and total energy consumption of buildings.

The program will leverage Honeywell’s Forge IoT platform, a predictive maintenance and energy management software solution, helping customers monitor, manage and optimize energy use in buildings. This platform will also help building management and decision makers to increase visibility in energy management, energy optimization and predictive analysis, and ultimately enhance the visibility of building maintenance needs.

According to data from the Singapore Construction Bureau, the current carbon emissions of buildings account for more than 20% of Singapore's total carbon emissions. Honeywell hopes to work with Singapore’s building owners and operators through the Centre of Excellence to deploy solutions that will help them reduce carbon emissions from commercial buildings. This is also a support for Singapore Green Plan 2030 and Singapore’s net zero emission target by 2050.

Honeywell’s Center of Excellence is expected to be operational this year and deploy building automation technologies through pilot projects with businesses in verticals such as local healthcare, data centers and education.
