To cultivate more artistic talents and allow them to enjoy more development opportunities in the future, the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the National Arts Council will establish a new NAC Creative Arts Scholarship.
The newly established scholarship is for students with pre-requisite and professional diploma programs at the Singapore Academy of Arts, Nanyang Academy of Arts and Lasalle Academy of Arts (LASALLE).
At the same time, the Ministry of Culture, Society, Youth and the Arts Association will also increase funding for the existing “Arts Association Arts Scholarship” degree program.
The Ministry of Culture, Society and Youth Department shared information on these two art scholarships at a collective meeting held on Friday (February 21). Two scholarships are used to support outstanding students in art education to ensure talented students, regardless of family background and need additional financial aid, have the opportunity to receive art education.
The enhanced arts scholarship will be used to fund more outstanding undergraduate, graduate and university preparatory and professional diploma students each year. Last year, the Arts Council awarded 13 art scholarships to reward outstanding talents who pursue undergraduate and graduate programs in different art disciplines. Arts Council Arts Scholarships fund full-time art and art-related degree programs in local and international institutions.

Starting this year, the Art Council will also cooperate with training institutions to provide more training in the workplace to meet high-demand jobs and skills gaps. Such training can also increase the chances of self-employed people in the arts field to receive on-the-job training, giving them more development paths and expanding their networks. The Arts Council will facilitate this training program through the Art Apprenticeship System and Art Training and Internship Program.
In the early stages of the program, the Arts Council will focus on the needs of art apprenticeships and art trainee programs in several fields, including art education, stage and production management, production coordination, and theater technology for live performances.
