A small number of local hawker centers are responsible for the Land Management Bureau, Jurong Group, etc. rather than the Environmental Bureau. Some hawkers operating in these places think they are not interested in the previously announced rent subsidy of 600 yuan. After learning that they will also benefit from it, they will be surprised. Thanks to the government for not forgetting them.
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hwang Xuncai announced in a budget statement on Tuesday (February 18) that the government and hawker centers and market stall owners managed by government-appointed operators will receive a rental subsidy of RMB 600 this year.
Most local hawker centers are managed by operators appointed by the National Environment Agency or authorities, but some hawker centers still do not fall into this category. According to our newspaper, Jurong Group (JTC), Housing and Land Administration Bureau have management, or have appointed other operators to manage hawker centers.
When asked, the Jurong Group revealed that they manage two Jurong Industrial Zone cooked food centers, located at Jurong Port Road and Quality Road. The group also appointed Timbre Group to manage the cooked food center in Launchpad @ one-north.
The vendors at these three cooked food centers are all eligible and can receive a rental subsidy of 600 yuan. The reporter visited the cooked food center in Qibu Valley, Weiyi Science and Technology City on the afternoon of Saturday (February 22). The vendors interviewed said that they did not know that they could receive a rental subsidy of 600 yuan, so they were surprised.

Hawker Center and market stall owners will receive a rental subsidy of 600 yuan

Wei Guoquan (40 years old), the owner of the economic rice noodle stall, entered the cooked food center for less than a week. After hearing that the stall could obtain a rent subsidy of 600 yuan, he applauded repeatedly.
“I opened shortly after I was in business, and 600 yuan was enough to cover a month's utility bill. I am very happy that the government provides us with benefits.”
Mr. Cai (72), the owner of the juice and beverage stall, said that considering that the cooked food center is managed by a private company, the couple did not expect a rental subsidy of 600 yuan.
“I have been in this area for more than 40 years, and the rent is getting higher and higher, and business is getting harder. This time the government is very generous. Although 600 yuan is not enough to subsidize the rent, is there any better.”
In addition, the Balestier Market Foodcourt is marked and managed by the main tenant KNC Global to the Land Office.
When asked, Food Pavilion spokesman Liao Junhuang (54 years old), said that the operator has contacted the Land Bureau to negotiate and confirmed that all stall owners who meet the conditions can enjoy rent subsidies.
“The government has provided similar rent rebates during the pandemic, and we also handed them over to the stall owners at that time to benefit them.”
Wang Danding (71 years old) and Wang Shuntian (62 years old), the owners of the duck rice stall in Changwu (Shunji), said that they received rent subsidies from the authorities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It will certainly help to get this 600 yuan, which can offset part of the cost.”
