The reconstruction plan for the National University Hospital Park, which took more than 10 years, is launched this year, and the huge project is expected to be completed in 2038. By then, the National University Hospital will add 300 beds to 1,500, providing medical services to more patients in the western region.

Minister of Health Wang Yikang said in his speech to the 40th anniversary dinner to celebrate the National University Hospital on Saturday (February 22) that the reconstruction project is quite complex and the new beds will be implemented in stages.

The National University Hospital, which operates in Kent Street since 1985, is a key hospital under the National University Medical Organization, one of the three major medical clusters in the local area, and is also the first university hospital in my country. The hospital currently has more than 1,200 beds, which treats more than one million patients each year, and provides more than 50 medical, surgical and dental specialties.

Wang Yikang said that some NUS hospitals have a history of many years. Since the hospital will continue to operate during the reconstruction period, new wards must be built first to relocate the existing wards and then rebuild the building at the original site.

“By 2033, we expect to replace half of the existing 1,200 beds and add about 100 new beds. By 2038, the remaining beds will also be replaced, with an additional 200 beds, bringing the total beds to 1,500. ”
