The Tampines Gathering Constituency is now under the leadership of the People's Action Party team. Before serving as Secretary-General of the People's Force Party, Wu Mingsheng represented the Workers' Party in 2006 to fight against the Tampines Constituency in 2011, and received more than 40% of the votes on both occasions.

However, when Wu Mingsheng led the People's Power Party in 2015 and 2020, he won no more than 30% of the votes when he fought in the Choi Chugang Gross Constituency and the Mai Boshen Constituency respectively.

When announcing his withdrawal on Saturday, the People's Forces Party Central Executive Committee said that the party has been actively advocating to strengthen unity among opposition parties and has re-engaged with different opposition parties after the 2020 general election, hoping to promote specific multi-party cooperation through political alliances.

Four opposition parties, including the People's Power Party, announced in June 2023 that they would form a People's Alliance and prepare to fight in the name of the alliance in the next general election.

The People's Strength Party said that although this partnership is cherished, there are irreconcilable strategic differences, so the alliance reached an agreement and decided that the People's Strength Party's withdrawal from the People's Alliance is a better choice. “This is to ensure that the People’s Union continues to operate as an effective political force in the coming election and does not suffer unnecessary interference from fundamental strategic differences.”

The People's Power Party wishes all the best for the People's Alliance and expresses its openness to future cooperation with the Alliance. They also promised that supporters will do their best to recommend a group of outstanding candidates, focus on winning elections and strive for the interests of the people in Congress.
