The next general election in the Tampines constituency may have a four-corner battle. After withdrawing from the alliance formed by the opposition party, the People's Power Party announced its plan to go to Tampines and become the third opposition party that intends to plant a flag in this constituency.
In addition to the National Unity Party, which has run for many times in Tampines, the Workers' Party has also often moved around the district in the past one or two years. I believe that the general election layout includes running for Tampines.
Wu Mingsheng, Secretary-General of the People's Power Party, visited Tampines with his party members on Sunday (February 23). When he was interviewed by the media, he announced his expedition to the Tampines and Yishun Gathering constituencies and was also considering running for the Ang Mo Kio Gathering constituency and neighbors. Yang Chugang District, but it depends on how the final constituency is divided. The People's Power Party has visited these constituencies one after another since 2023.
Although he expressed concerns about the four-corner battle, Wu Mingsheng believed that the People's Power Party had the greatest chance of winning in the Tampines constituency, so he decided to “bury the boats” and lead the front-line teams within the party to fight.
In the 2011 national election, Wu Mingsheng led the Unity Party to compete for Tampines, with a vote rate of 42.8%. He said that when he revisited Tampines, many past supporters welcomed them because they believed that the People's Power Party was rational in questioning politics. “Tampines residents are wise and will be willing to change the party they support if they are sufficient.”

The People's Power Party plans to release its campaign declaration next month, with the focus on governance policies such as supporting families and opposing mandatory vaccines. Wu Mingsheng said that facing the problems of population aging and a decline in fertility, they hope to amend the constitution to state that families composed of only one man and one woman are legal. “We are not against homosexuality, but we do not advocate this way of life.”
Congress repeals Section 377A of the Criminal Code in 2023, and also revises the Constitution to further guarantee the definition of marriage for a man and a woman, so as not to challenge it in court. However, the definition of marriage is not directly written into the Constitution, but rather gives Congress the power to define marriage.
In addition, the People's Power Party also hopes to revise the regulations on compulsory vaccination. Wu Mingsheng explained that they support safe vaccines, but believe that people should not be forced to receive them before prove that the coronavirus vaccine is 100% safe. This is also the main reason why he once again “re-come” after announcing his last candidacy in 2020.
Wu Mingsheng and the People's Power Party have been refuted and corrected by the government for reprinting and publishing several contents about the side effects of the coronavirus vaccine, including the rise in cases of serious side effects reported by the Ministry of Health in May last year. It is “absurd and untrue”.
The People's Power Party originally formed a People's Alliance with the Voice of the People, the Innovation Party and the Democratic Progressive Party, but was unable to reach an agreement on the fight against Tampines and the COVID-19 vaccine policy and withdrew from the alliance.
