In order to support Singapore listed companies to release sustainable development reports on climate issues, the Singapore Chartered Accountants Association (ISCA) cooperated with SGX Regulatory Corporation (SGX RegCo) to hold training seminars.

The Singapore Institute of Chartered Accountants stated in a statement on Monday (February 24) that the above-mentioned seminar aims to assist local companies in understanding the overview of the sustainability report and a comprehensive understanding of international sustainable development disclosure guidelines.

The seminar is planned to be held between April and September this year, with a total of eight sessions. The first workshop will be held on April 17, covering the differences between Singapore’s climate reporting and audit roadmap, as well as the currently adopted Global Reporting Initiative standards and the International Sustainable Development Guidelines Board (ISSB).

“Through hands-on and case studies, participants will also learn how to conduct climate-related disclosures, including current expected financial impacts and scenario analysis, in accordance with the International Financial Statement Standards (IFRS) S2 requirements.”

Zhang Sile, president of the Singapore Chartered Accountants Association, pointed out that as a Singapore national accounting agency, organizations have the ability to help listed companies develop their sustainable development reporting skills with their expertise. “This training program reflects our commitment to providing companies with the knowledge they need and adapt to Efforts to changing regulatory requirements.”

Chen Wenren, CEO of SGX Regulatory Company, also said that the market is increasingly concerned about whether consumer products and services meet sustainability requirements, and the training seminar will promote Singaporean companies to connect with the latest standards.

In September last year, SGX regulated companies have strengthened their sustainable development reporting system and will begin to incorporate new international standards after extensive consultation with public responses.

In October of the same year, the Singapore Association of Chartered Accountants issued guidelines to provide guidance for submitting reports in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards.
