The two female drivers were charged in court for driving recklessly and not paying attention to the road conditions while driving, involving a car accident that caused injuries and death.

The two defendants are Mo Zhuangyu, 45, and Lin Siyu, 26, respectively, facing two charges of conflict with the highway traffic law; the two car accidents occurred in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

According to the charge, at 11:39 pm on March 26, 2024, Mo Zhuangyu was suspected of running a red light while driving at the junction of Changi Road and Jalan Younos, colliding with an electric bicycle and a car.

The accident killed 38-year-old Malaysian male motorcycle rider Huang Junjie and injured a 55-year-old male car driver.

Lin Siyu was accused of colliding with an electric motorcycle due to failure to pay attention to the road conditions at 8:25 pm on May 13, 2023.

After the two defendants were charged on Wednesday (February 26), Mo Zhuangyu expressed his intention to plead guilty in court, while Lin Siyu did not make any statement.

The cases of Mo Zhuangyu and Lin Siyu will be extended to March and April respectively for pre-trial meetings.

Under the Highway Traffic Act, if reckless driving causes death to others, violators may be sentenced to two to eight years in prison and revoked their driver's license at all levels for 10 years.
