During this year's Ramadan month, 59 affordable supermarkets across the island will distribute more than 75,000 fasting snacks and drinks to Muslim customers for free.

The Affordable Group issued a statement on Friday (February 28) saying that from March 2 to 30, the Group's 59 stores will provide free snacks (jujubes or biscuits) and beverages (milk, sports drinks or water) to the Muslim customers in the store 30 minutes before and after the fasting period is opened, until the delivery is completed.

This is the 17th consecutive year that the Affordable Group has provided this service, with a total of more than 75,000 copies expected to be distributed this year.

The Group will also hold a small market at the affordable Xtra supermarket in Jem, Jurong East Shopping Center (February 27-March 12), and the affordable supermarket at the 888th Channel 50 (March 13-26). Special discounts for Ramadan and Haji Day essentials will last until April 9, 2025, covering items such as fresh and frozen food, cleaning supplies, Haji Day snacks and beverages.

Vipul Chawla, president of Affordable Group, said: “In the coming weeks, volunteers at the Affordable Group headquarters will join our frontline employees in distributing edible snacks to Muslim customers at stores across the island. We hope to unite Singaporeans in a spirit of strengthening community connections and fulfill our mission to make every day better.”
