Suspected of “selling beef with the title of sheep”, a meat wholesaler sold diced bone-beef to two catering businesses, and was found to be mixed with beef, so he was charged with going to court.
The alleged meat wholesaler is NJD Trading, which operates on Jalan Tepong, facing two charges of violating the Sale of Food Act.
According to the charge, NJD Trading is suspected of selling 15 kilograms and 20 kilograms of “bone-shaped diced lamb” to two restaurant operators MBS Restaurant and Barakath Restaurant & Catering on March 1, 2023.
However, when personnel from Singapore Food Bureau took samples to check the meat, they found the beef ingredients in the mutton.
NJD Trading was charged with injuring the law for suspected of “selling beef with sheep's head” and selling food that did not meet the buyer's requirements.

The charges did not disclose why the authorities inspected the meat sold by NJD Trading.
After being charged in national court on Wednesday (March 5), NJD Trading representatives expressed their intention to plead guilty and made the company plead guilty on April 2.
If a person who violates the Food Sales Act is convicted, he may be fined up to RMB 5,000, and a repeat offender may be fined up to RMB 10,000, or jail for up to three months, or both.
