A bus caught fire on Bukit Tima Expressway. The Land Transportation Administration reminded the public to avoid affected sections. Yitatong also issued a statement saying that bus service would be delayed.
The accident occurred at around 6:15 pm on Thursday (March 6), on the section of the Bukit Tima Expressway (BKE) to Pan Island Expressway (PIE), and in front of the Kranzhi Expressway (KJE).
According to videos circulating on social media platforms, a bus ignited somehow when passing the above section. The fire was believed to have started from the front of the car and then spread to the rear of the car, which soon swallowed the front half of the bus.
The Land Transportation Administration's OneMotoring website informed the above section of the road at 6:19 pm, reminding the driver to avoid the second, third and fourth lanes.
Bus operator Tower Transit also posted on Facebook at 7:17 pm that bus services of 171, 963 and 966 will be delayed due to a fire in the above-mentioned sections.

In response to the enquiry from Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore's civil defense forces confirmed that the fire was a single-decker passenger bus. After the civil defense personnel arrived at the scene, they used three water guns to put out the fire. The spokesman added that the bus commander and 11 passengers had been evacuated before the Civil Defense Forces arrived and no one was injured in the accident.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
