The Singapore Food Bureau has ordered a recall for two New Zealand dark chocolates because they contain undeclared allergens. This is the second time the authorities have recalled chocolates from the same brand.

The Food Bureau issued a statement on Friday (March 7) saying that the affected products were Supremely Gourmet mint dark chocolate and citrus-flavored dark chocolate, originating from New Zealand.

Because the product contains undeclared milk ingredients, the authorities have asked importer Redmart to recall the product. The recall work is still in progress.

The Food Bureau said allergens in food may cause allergic reactions in people who are sensitive to these allergens. According to the Food Ordinance, food packaging labels must contain ingredients known to cause allergic reactions to protect consumers who are allergic to food.

The statement pointed out that unless it is a group of people who are allergic to or intolerant to milk, milk will not pose food safety issues to the general public. Consumers who have purchased related products and are allergic to or intolerant to milk should avoid eating them.
