Three law enforcement units banned illegal motorcyclists at the Woodlands checkpoint, and more than 160 people were investigated.
Singapore Police Force issued a statement on Friday (March 7) saying that the Transport Police Department, the National Environment Agency and the Land Transport Authority launched an inter-agency law enforcement operation at the Woodlands Checkpoint last Tuesday (February 25), and more than 160 motorcyclists were investigated during the operation.
During the operation, the traffic police found that 18 people did not hold valid driver's licenses, eight of whom did not purchase insurance for motorcycles. The Environmental Bureau issued 24 tickets to motorcyclists who emit exhaust gas or noise exceed the standard; the Lujiao Bureau issued 35 tickets to motorcyclists who had illegal license plates.
The statement pointed out that local or foreign drivers must comply with traffic regulations and vehicle management regulations. Violators will face punishment and foreign registered vehicles will also be denied entry. The traffic police also reminded the motorcyclists to abide by the law and develop the habit of riding safely.
According to the Highway Traffic Act, if a first-time offender fails to drive with a valid driver's license, he or she may face a fine of up to 10,000 yuan, or be imprisoned for up to three years, or both. If a serious offender is convicted, he or she may face a fine of up to 20,000 yuan, or be imprisoned for up to six years, or both. The vehicle involved may also be confiscated.

According to the Vehicles (Third Party Risks and Compensation) Act, if you are convicted of driving without insurance, you may face a fine of up to RMB 1,000, or a maximum of three months in prison, or both.
According to the Environmental Protection and Management (Vehicle Waste Gas) Regulations, if a vehicle is used for emissions or noise exceeding the standard, if the crime is convicted, the first offender may face a fine of up to 2,000 yuan, and the second offender may face a fine of up to 5,000 yuan.
Once a first offender is convicted of displaying improper license plates, the first offender can face a fine of up to 1,000 yuan, or a maximum of three months in prison, or both. Felony offenders can face fines up to 2,000 yuan, jail for up to six months, or both.
Data released by the traffic police recently showed that although electric motorcycles account for 14.7% of the local overall transportation means, 55.2% of traffic accidents last year involved electric motorcycles.
