The Singapore Sports Council and the CPC Central Committee have launched a anti-deficiency program to guide the elderly to prevent muscle degeneration through exercise; by the end of the latest, these two organizations will also provide 100 active age centers to provide sports equipment suitable for the elderly to support the elderly to remain physically and mentally active.
Cai Ruilong, the Ministry of Community and Youth and Senior Deputy Governance of the Ministry of Social and Family Development, announced the news on Monday (March 9) when the Congressional Appropriations Committee debated the expenditure budget of the Ministry of Education and Youth.
The Frailty Prevention Programme complements national programs such as Healthier SG and Age Well SG. The purpose is to enable older people to obtain support from preventive healthcare programs nearby through active age centers to delay the pace of debilitation so that they can stay active and not be disconnected from social interaction.

There are two links in the anti-weak plan. The first is the eight-week prevention program for age-related muscle loss (CALM for short). This program guides elderly people to exercise, improve their living habits such as diet and sleep, and exercise stronger muscles.
The CALM project has been launched in the Queen’s Town Health District. The program has been launched in September last year and has benefited about 1,200 elderly people on 54 active age centers across the island.
