The roof of the car was hidden, and a Ma Guo registered car was intercepted when it was cleared. The immigration officers pried open the roof and found 165 and 251 packs of tax-evaluated cigarettes.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Bureau posted on Facebook on Thursday (March 13) that a Malaysia-registered car smuggled tax-evaluated cigarettes from Woodlands checkpoints on February 25, and was discovered by law enforcement officers on the spot.

According to the video of the post, after the law enforcement officers discovered the abnormality of the vehicle, they used tools to pry the roof open and found 165 and 251 packs of tax-eliminated cigarettes from the mezzanine between the roof and the ceiling.

The tax evasion case was seized to the Singapore Customs Bureau for further investigation.

Under the Tariff Act and the Excise Tax Act, the purchase, sale, transportation, delivery, storage, storage, possession or handling of tax-obsolete goods is a serious violation of the law. Violators may face fines equivalent to 40 times the amount of tax evasion, or be imprisoned for up to six years, or do both.
