An elderly man fell while driving on a bus and died after being sent to the hospital.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (March 12) at about 7:40 pm. A netizen posted on social media that her grandfather fell into the head in the bus No. 262 of New MRT and died after being sent to the hospital. At the time of the incident, the bus drove to the junction of Ang Mo Kio Road 8 and Bisan Road.

Netizens said that according to the preliminary police investigation, my grandfather was standing on the moving bus before falling. Since the scene of the incident is far from her home, she wanted to know why her grandfather stood up and hoped that witnesses could provide clues to let the family clarify the incident. The post did not disclose the age of the older man.

New MRT spokesman Chen Guizhen said in response to the Lianhe Zaobao inquiry that the bus was turning right at the intersection of Ang Mo Kio Road 8 when the incident occurred, and an elderly man lost his balance and fell in the bus. “He got up from his seat earlier and walked to the bus exit to get off, but unfortunately he lost his balance before he could grab the support pole.”

Chen Guizhen said that the bus commander quickly provided assistance and an ambulance arrived later. The injured older man was awake when he was sent to the hospital.

The New MRT is keeping in touch with the older man's family. When the company heard that the older man later passed away, it expressed deep sadness and expressed condolences.

When asked, the Civil Defense Force confirmed that it had received relevant notices and one person was sent to Tan Dogsung Hospital.
