The three new subway stations in the sixth phase of the ring line are expected to be opened next year, connecting the “gap” between the two switching stations at the tail end of the south, making the ring line officially form a closed loop. At that time, except for Duomege Station, there will be no other terminal stations on the ring line. The authorities are considering using “outer ring” (clockwise) and “inner ring” (counter-clockwise) to indicate the direction of the train.
The three new subway stations in the sixth phase of the ring line – Keppel, Guangdong Minhe Prince Edward Station, will be completed in the first half of 2026. After completion, the ring line operated by subway operator SMRT has a total of 33 subway stations with a total length of more than 40 kilometers.
As the ring line becomes a closed loop, information and instructions inside and outside the subway station and on the train must be fully updated to help passengers clearly identify the direction of the ride and plan the most convenient travel route.
To this end, the Land Transportation Administration launched a public consultation from Friday (March 14) to next Monday (17) to collect opinions and feedback on new road sign designs and directions.

According to an online questionnaire survey by the Land Transportation Bureau, the authorities intend to replace the current method of indicating the train's driving direction with the terminus with the “Outer Loop” and “Inner Loop”. The outer ring represents clockwise, while the inner ring represents counterclockwise.

The current terminals of the ring line are Harbor Station, Duomege Station and Marina Bay Station.

At the end of last year, the Road Transportation Bureau consulted more than 50 office workers, students, elderly people and disabled people for the newly proposed design to understand their travel patterns and needs, and improve them based on their feedback. After this round of public consultations, the authorities will organize all opinions and further improve the design.
Interested public can scan the QR code located on the exit of Baomen Porch Station, the toll gate or platform banner to complete the questionnaire for about 20 minutes. The authorities also set up display boards on the platform of the Baomen Porch Station to display these designs, and staff present will also provide assistance.
