A 30-year-old Singaporean man was suspected of drug trafficking. Seeing that the Central Drug Control Bureau personnel were on the scene to search, they tried to escape and pursue but failed. After he was taken to his residence, the authorities found about 170 grams of methamphetamine and 42 grams of ecstasy; another woman with three children was arrested in front of the child for suspected drug abuse.

The Narcotics Anti-Drug Administration issued a statement on Saturday (March 15) saying that anti-drug personnel launched anti-drug operations in Hongshan, Caishi, Tiong Balu, Jurong and Yishun from March 10 to 14. The above-mentioned man who was attacked was arrested on Tampines 82 Street on the morning of March 11.

A total of 76 people were arrested in this island-wide law enforcement operation, and about 462 grams of heroin, 357 grams of methamphetamine, 58 grams of marijuana, 11 grams of ketamine (commonly known as ketamine), 46 grams of Aida Death Pill (commonly known as ecstasy), and 76 Elimin No. 5 pills were seized. The black market price of this batch of drugs is estimated to exceed 97,800 yuan.

On the morning of March 11, drug control personnel also raided a residential unit on 12th Street in Bishan, arresting a 28-year-old Singaporean man and a 41-year-old woman suspected of drug trafficking, and seized about 430 grams of heroin, 28 grams of methamphetamine, 14 grams of marijuana, and 46 Elimin No. 5 pills.

The Narcotics Administration also revealed another case on Facebook on Saturday, in which a woman with three children was arrested at home for suspected drug abuse, with the 12- and 14-year-old children present at the time. The Narcotics Bureau did not disclose the time, location and age of the woman.

“For young children, home should be a safe place. This case shows that drugs are not just harmful to drug users, and irresponsible behavior of parents can put children on a dangerous path, which can cause a cycle of drug use and pain. Children should not be exposed to such dangers.”

Under the Drug Abuse Act, it is illegal for anyone to traffic or propose or prepare to traffic in controlled drugs. Anyone who smuggles more than 500 grams of marijuana, 250 grams of methamphetamine, or 15 grams of heroin can be sentenced to death once the crime is convicted.

Investigations against all suspects are still underway.
