Dr. Chen Qingmu, chairman of Singapore’s Forward Party, led a team of more than 50 people to visit Daman Jurong, indicating that the Forward Party will go to the West Coast-Jurong West Ji District in the next general election.
On Sunday morning (March 16), Chen Qingmu, together with former Party Secretary General Pan Qunqin and non-constituency MP Liang Wenhui and other party members, visited the Daman Jurong Market, Cooked Food Center and Daman Jurong Shopping Center to send party newspapers to voters for exchange and interaction.
During this period, many residents recognized Chen Qingmu, and some stopped and patiently waited for the opportunity to shake hands with him and take photos.
The new West Coast – Jurong West Five-member Constituency Constituency, which is coming to the general election, about three-quarters of the voters come from the West Coast Group constituency, and about one-quarter of the voters come from the two traditional voters of the People's Action Party in the Jurong Group constituency, Daman Jurong and Jurong West.
In the last general election, Chen Qingmu led the party to the West Coast, winning 48.32% of the votes, making the West Coast the lowest vote-winning constituency of the PAP at that time.

West Coast and Jurong West merge into a new five-person constituency

When Chen Qingmu was interviewed by the media, he remained open to running for the West Coast – Jurong West. “We have a lot of places to go and have to study all the changes that are going on, but if I run here, it will bring a lot of historical perspectives.”
He used to open a clinic in Yama Palace Village, and later moved to Jurong with some villagers, and once treated many Jurong residents. In politics, he served as chairman of the Jurong East Town Council and the Southwest Community Development Council, and is no stranger to the entire region, and this time he has seen many familiar faces.
In response to some people's regret that the Progressive Party is about to start again in Jurong, Chen Qingmu believes that although new bridges and communication channels need to be rebuilt, the key is not to run in which region, but to fight for the entire country.
Chen Qingmu did not want to disclose the elected campaign team that the Forward Party had elected, but he promised that the Forward Party would send out the best candidates wherever it was and do his best.
Telok Branya, which was originally part of the West Coast Ghetto Constituency, will be classified as Tanjong Pagar Constituency. Liang Wenhui said that they have closely served Tel.Branya residents in the past four years, and re-divided the constituency to “take away” these residents and gave them about 41,000 new voters from Jurong, which is an uphill battle for the Progressive Party.
“The runway from now to the general election is short, so we must strengthen our interactions with residents and try our best to reach all voters.”
The Forward Party has previously stated that it plans to compete in the constituencies with more than 40% of the votes in the last general election, namely the West Coast Grocery Constituency, the Choa Chu Kang Grocery Constituency, and the Marymond District. In addition to the changes in the West Coast constituency, the Bukit Gambo District, which was originally part of the Choi Chu Kang Gaming Constituency, was also divided.
Regarding whether the plan will be changed after the constituency is re-divided, Pan Qunqin responded that the Forward Party is not ready to disclose relevant strategies at this stage and will remain open to all options.
Liang Wenhui said that the Forward Party will arrange meetings with other opposition parties soon to coordinate the constituencies participating in the war. “Any statement before the announcement of the constituency-wide review report should be tentative.”
