The nine-year-old daughter had a sandal stuck in the gap in the escalator. The father responded quickly and untied her shoes and saved her daughter without any danger.
This thrilling scene happened at around 7 p.m. last Saturday (February 15) at Thomson Plaza. Mr. Huang (41 years old, self-employed person) said in an interview that he had just finished dinner and took his nine-year-old daughter from the first floor to the second floor.
“At that time, my daughter was standing in front, and I stood two steps away from her. When I was about to arrive at the second floor, my daughter suddenly shouted.”
Mr. Huang said he saw the sandals he wore on his daughter's feet stuck in the gap in the escalator.
“Although I was frightened, I rushed up as soon as possible. I wanted to press the emergency button, but I couldn't find it in a panic, so I unbuttoned my daughter's sandals so that my daughter could get out of trouble in time and avoid being caught in it .”

Mr. Huang successfully found and pressed the emergency button afterwards, and then notified the counter staff to ask the latter to help retrieve the sandals.
He told the Xinming Daily reporter that his daughter was frightened and cried, but fortunately she was not in a state of health.
Mr. Huang posted his experience online later, hoping to remind other parents to be careful, and pointed out that more signs can be set up in shopping malls to let the public pay more attention.
“Children are generally more active, and parents must be extra careful and teach them to be safe.”
