Nurudin entered and exited the prison four times for drug-related drugs and spent most of his 20s inside the walls. In order to break the cycle of repeated offenses, he chose to change his destiny through education.
Nurudeen (30) was sentenced to prison for five years and 10 months, and this is his fourth time. Before that, he had completed the O-level exam and studied in the Polytechnic Institute for a brief period, and later dropped out of school due to improper behavior. This time he was imprisoned, he signed up for a prison school and wanted to regain his direction in his life through study.
Starting from 2023, he chose to study subjects such as A-level mathematics and economics in prison schools. In 2024, he was released from prison. However, he did not give up on the exam, but continued to complete all subjects by himself.
For Nurudin, this experience of persistence in learning not only allowed him to gain academic achievements, but also opened up his thinking on social and global issues, especially issues such as poverty, education and environmental sustainability.
Now he has also begun to explore various museums, learn architecture, and even learn Latin and piano. Study and art became the source of strength for him to break the vicious cycle and pursue a new life.
