Five local public universities jointly announced the 2024 graduate employment survey on Monday (February 24), with 12,500 full-time students from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University, Singapore University of Science and Technology Design and Singapore University of Social Sciences 12,500 full-time students from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore University of Science and Technology and Singapore University of Social Sciences 12,500 full-time students from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore University of Science and Technology, and Singapore University of Social Sciences 12,500 full-time students from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore University of Science and Technology Course graduates participated in the survey, accounting for about 73.3% of fresh graduates.
Among the survey participants, about 11,100 people have been employed or are actively seeking jobs. Including part-time, temporary and freelance work, 87.1% of respondents found jobs within six months of graduation, and the overall employment rate fell by 2.5 percentage points from 89.6% in 2023, and this rate was as high as 93.8% in 2022.
Among them, 79.5% of graduates found full-time jobs, a significant decline from 84.1% in 2023, while the rate in 2022 was 87.5%. This is also the second time since 2018 that the full-time employment rate for college students has fallen by more than 80% within six months of graduation. In 2020, due to the impact of the coronavirus epidemic, the full-time employment rate fell to 69.8%.
Some graduates are engaged in part-time or freelancing, with about 1.6% of freelancers, a slight increase from 1.5% in 2023. In addition, the number of people working part-time or temporary workers rose to 6%, an increase of two percentage points from 2023.
