Four institutions launched law enforcement actions at my country's sea, land and air checkpoints, and a total of 59 people were punished for failing to declare to carry excess cash, failing to declare and paying commodity tariffs and consumption taxes, or holding electronic cigarettes.
The Singapore Police Force, Immigration and Checkpoints Bureau, Singapore Customs Bureau and the Health Sciences Bureau issued a joint statement on Saturday (March 1) saying that the authorities launched cross-agency law enforcement operations at sea, land and air checkpoints from February 19 to 25, inspecting about 11,100 passengers, as well as more than 16,000 bags and handbags.
Among them, five passengers were stopped by carrying more than S$20,000 (or equivalent currency) of cash in entry and exit without reporting to the police.
On February 21, 24 and 25, the 52-year-old foreign male passenger, the 44-year-old foreign male passenger and the 63-year-old foreign female passenger were found by the authorities to bring in various currencies of more than S$23,000, S$42,000 and S$93,000 respectively.
On February 22, a 37-year-old foreign male traveler was found to have left Singapore with S$50,000 without declaring a Singaporean, while another 48-year-old foreign male traveler was found to have not declared to have various currencies in various currencies.

If he is convicted, he may face a fine of up to 50,000 yuan, or be imprisoned for up to three years, or do both. The cash involved may also be confiscated.
During the week-long law enforcement action, another 53 people were found carrying items without declaring and paying taxes. This includes tobacco products, alcohol products exceeding the duty-free limit, souvenirs exceeding the import consumption tax exemption, gifts and food, etc. The tax evasion amount seized by the Customs Bureau in the law enforcement action was 1,285 yuan, and a fine of 21,455 yuan was issued for the case.
The Customs Bureau listed three cases: a 45-year-old male passenger brought 24 packs of tax-evaluated cigarettes; a 19-year-old female passenger did not declare to carry six toys, exceeding the import consumption tax exemption amount; a 57-year-old male passenger brought 4 liters of alcohol into the country, exceeding the tax exemption limit. They were all fined for the charges.
According to the tariff law, tax evaders who are convicted of a crime can be sentenced to a fine of 20 times the amount of tax evasion, or to be imprisoned for up to two years. The Customs Bureau recommends that passengers fill in their declaration information through the Customs@SG network application three days before arrival.

On February 24, a 29-year-old foreign male traveler was caught by the Health Sciences Bureau and issued a fine.
According to the Tobacco (Advertising and Sales Control) Act, importing, distributing, selling or providing sales of e-cigarettes is illegal. First-time offenders may face a fine of up to RMB 10,000, or a maximum of six months in prison, or both; serious offenders may face a fine of up to RMB 20,000, or a maximum of one year in prison, or both. All contraband will be seized and confiscated.
The Immigration Bureau said it will continue to carry out security enforcement operations at our border with other agencies to investigate and stop attempted smuggling and ensure the safety of Singapore.
