The Ministry of Health will conduct the first round of reviews on the five-year lifelong protection plan, and the committee expects to release a report in the second half of 2025.

Minister of Social and Family Development and Second Minister of Health Ma Shangao announced the above news when debating the Ministry of Health expenditure budget on the Congressional Appropriations Committee on Friday (March 7).

The Ministry of Health pointed out that from 2020 to 2025, the compensation amount and premiums of the CareShield Life will increase by 2% each year.

Lifetime protection is a national severe disability insurance plan launched by the government on October 1, 2020 to replace the previous ElderShield plan. The program is designed to help Singaporeans facing severe disabilities, especially when they get older, with basic financial security.

Singaporean citizens and permanent residents born between 1980 and 1990 have been automatically joined in 2020, and all citizens and permanent residents will automatically join the program once they are over 30 years of age. Singaporeans born before 1980 and without serious disabilities can choose whether to join the program.
