Local people have a 77% trust in the government, ranking fifth among the 28 countries participating in the survey. Chinese people's trust in the media has increased by two percentage points compared with last year, rising to 62%.

According to the 2025 Trust Survey released by international consulting firm Edelman on Tuesday (March 11), local people's trust in the government is the same as last year; the ranking is one place lower than last year, behind Saudi Arabia, China, the United Arab Emirates and India.

Respondents' trust in the media has increased, but their trust in non-governmental institutions (62%) and enterprises (60%) has decreased by four and three percentage points respectively compared with last year.

From October 25 to November 16 last year, Edelman visited more than 33,000 people through online questionnaires, and 1,150 people participated in the local area.

67% of local respondents were concerned about prejudice, discrimination or racial discrimination, an increase of 13 percentage points from last year, a record high. Increases across gender, age and income groups.
