Singapore Energy Group launched my country's first segmented regional cooling network implemented in brownfield modification in Tampines, which can reduce carbon emissions by 1,000 metric tons and save more than 2.3 million kilowatt-hours of energy each year.

New Energy (SP Group) officially launched the Tampines branched regional cooling network on Friday (March 14). Minister of Society and Family Development and Second Minister of Health Ma Shangao was invited to preside over the launching ceremony at Tampines World. He is also a Tampines constituency council member.

Other members of the district, including Dr. Xu Baokun, Senior Minister of Government of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Environment and Human Resources, Ma Yanqing, Senior Deputy Minister of Government of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Environment and Ministry of Human Resources, Zhu Beiqing, Mayor of Northeast District, and Chen Yijun, Second Consultant of the Tampines Grassroots Organization, also attended the event.

This cooling network is designed for brownfield (developed areas) projects, aiming to modify the refrigeration system of existing buildings, provide efficient refrigeration services, and achieve energy conservation and emission reduction.

Several regional refrigeration systems have been launched in the local area, including the regional refrigeration system of Punggol Digital Park, as well as the central refrigeration system launched by New Energy in the DHL area, and the regional refrigeration network of Marina Bay. These are all greenfield projects.

Seven existing buildings in the center of Tampines Town have been connected to the cooling network, including Century Plaza, Tampines Branch of the Central Provident Fund Bureau, Tampines Branch of the Vocational Corporation, Tampines Second Center of OCBC Bank, Tampines Second Center, Tampines World, Tampines Plaza and Tampines1 Shopping Mall.

Among them, Century Plaza, Tampines Land and Tampines1 will be the three major cooling stations for the regional cooling network. New energy has installed pump equipment at these three refrigeration stations, so that the refrigerated water provided by the refrigerator not only meets its own construction needs, but can also be transported to other buildings through the addition of pump equipment and 1.3 kilometers of underground pipelines.

The cooling network will reduce the carbon emissions of 1,000 metric tons per year in Tampines Town Center, equivalent to 910 cars a year in the road. In addition, it can save more than 2.3 million kilowatt-hours of energy every year, which is enough to power more than 710 three-bedroom HDB buildings for one year.
