A meter box in Jalanga, Sengkang caught fire in a HDB flat, 10 people were evacuated urgently, and two people were inhaled in thick smoke and sent to the hospital.
The fire occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Saturday (March 15) at a meter box on the corridor on the seventh floor of the HDB flat 447A in Jalan Kayu.

When the photojournalist of Lianhe Zaobao arrived at the scene at 9 a.m., the area of the meter box near the elevator entrance was in a mess. You could see burned debris and the corridor ceiling was blackened. Some HDB units have powered out after the fire, workers are under emergency repairs, and some workers are cleaning the ground.
Yan Tianbao, a member of the Ang Mo Kio Constituency Constituency who was in charge of Fenwei affairs, also visited the scene afterwards and visited the residents.
At least two fire trucks and an ambulance are parked on the ground floor of the HDB flat. It is understood that two residents who were inhaling thick smoke from the thermal meter box were sent to the hospital.

When asked, the Singapore Civil Defense Force confirmed that it had received relevant notifications that the fire involved items in the meter box. Firefighters use fire water pipes and dry powder fire extinguishers to extinguish the fire.
For safety reasons, the police and civil defense forces evacuated about 10 people. The two were taken to Singapore General Hospital for inhaling thick smoke.
An Ang Mo Kio Town Council spokesman said when asked that the town will repair the affected public corridors, including re-pulling and painting. Authorities are currently working to restore power supplies, hoping to complete them by Saturday night. The municipal and town association is also assisting residents in cleaning up dirt caused by fire and blackened walls.
The spokesperson said residents who need assistance can call the Emergency Services Unit (EMSU) at 1800-241-7711. “We would like to take this opportunity to remind residents that for everyone's safety, please make sure there is no debris in the meter box.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
