Tampines Changkat is divided into Tampines Constituency. Ma Shangao, the leader of the constituency, said that the new single constituency is still part of Tampines Town and participates in the planning of the five-year development blueprint.

The constituency scope review committee announced the new constituency division on Tuesday (March 11). Minister of Social and Family Development and Second Minister of Health Ma Shangao posted on Facebook on Thursday (13th) that changes in constituency division meant that Tampines Town now includes a five-person constituency and a single constituency district. “Add a member of the councillor will help better serve Tampines residents and address specific concerns about Tampines’ traditional Chinese residents.”

He also said that the team is still committed to implementing the five-year development blueprint for Tampines to create a more environmentally friendly, connected and vibrant municipality for residents. “Tampines’s traditional Chinese education remains part of the development blueprint.”

Tampines has always been a safe zone for the People's Action Party. From the four general elections from 2006 to 2020, the vote rate in the 2011 watershed election was inferior to the national average of the PAP.

But in the coming general election, there is a four-corner battle here, and the National Unity Party, the Workers' Party and the People's Power Party all send strong signals that they will compete for Tampines.
